The FSW17M-BRONZE kit is a popular choice for engineers because it comes complete with two Spark Resistant tools a pump, hoses and all items required to safely spread a flange joint. The PH300T pump included in the kit allows a single operator to control two tools independently or simultaneously to ensure parallel flange spreading.
The FSW17-BRONZE tool is designed to enter the gap between flanges and force the flange open removing the requirement for traditional rigging equipment and certified anchor points.
It is highly recommended that a minimum of two FSW17-BRONZE tools are used when spreading flange joints – This allows the operator to control the opening of the flange joint to maintain a parallel gap – this will ensure the tool maintains a secure grip on the flange and prevent pinching the gasket and potential flange face damage.
The FSW17-BRONZE is actuated by hydraulic pressure that pushes a piston creating a linear force on the internal wedge – the internal wedge then forces the jaws of the tool apart.
Using high pressure hydraulics allows the operator to generate very high spreading forces with a hand pump (included in the FSW17M-BRONZE kit) – this removes the requirement for an external power source. The Tool is lightweight and portable making it ideal for use in remote locations.
