The contact areas between tool and flange are of a bronze material that is classified as non sparking but the core material of the components remain as forged steel to maintain the strength and factor of safety of the tool.
RenQuip have developed Jaws and stepped blocks for use with the FSW range of flange Spreaders to reduce the risk of sparks when operating in hazardous areas.
The Jaws and Stepped blocks can be retrofitted to FSW17 and FSW9 tools.
